Employee Retention Credits (ERC)

Employee Retention Attorney

As an employer, you may be eligible for the Employee Retention Credit if you’ve been affected by COVID-19. This credit is designed to help businesses keep their workers on the payroll.

What Is It?

The Employee Retention Credit, also known as (ERC) is a tax credit that is refundable against specific employment taxes as well as qualified wages that an employer who is eligible paid out to their employees between March 12th, 2020, and September 30th, 2021.

The Tax Credit was authorized as part of the CARES Act, also known as the Corona Virus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. This authorization was implemented as part of the CARES Act in order to encourage employers to keep their employees on the payroll and also make that process easier to do with a tax credit.

The ERC Program for 2020 offers a refundable tax credit that is up to $5000 for each qualifying employee in 2020. For the year 2021, the program actually increased to 70% of up to $10,000 in employee wages per employer for the first, second, and third quarters respectively. The total refundable can be up to $26,000 per employee.
